Karen & Kaleb
This one is special to me. Karen is one of my best friends from college (and my little sister in our sorority!) and she and Kaleb got together their sophomore year. She is from Germany and they’ve had a long relationship with many periods of looooong distance, and other periods of sharing their homes and cultures with each other. They were never gonna be the type to rush into marriage for any reason, but after a while, it became clear: they’d been through so much together and they’d be happy to keep going through it together forever. So why not just get married? :)
Last August, they had a beautiful little ceremony at the Geneva courthouse with close family members (Karen’s parents and brother came from Germany!). It was super sweet and lovely and I’m so glad I got to witness my best friend get married AND capture it for her. :)
We then went to a nearby botanical garden for the family and newlywed portraits.
The next day, they had a reception party at Kaleb’s parents’ house! There were a bunch more people and it was very informal and fun. There was a polaroid camera for people to play around with, cornhole, refreshments, and of course an awesome dinner and several gorgeous cakes. They had a short Jewish blessing, complete with chuppah, challah bread, candles, and a glass to smash. Followed by a hilarious speech by Karen’s parents in which they quizzed Kaleb on his German. 😂
It was a super fun night celebrating some of my closest friends! Congratulations, Karen and Kaleb!!! ❤
