Kiah & Tabarique
Oh my goodness. This is one of my favorite shoots in the whole wide world. Can you see why? Kiah, Tabs, and Cali all REALLY brought the goods for this shoot and I’m forever in love with these photos.
I also know Kiah and Tabs from college. These two started dating almost immediately after arriving as freshmen (a so-called “Welcome Week couple”). And they are still together and happy as can be after graduating this past summer. Now, they were freshmen when I was a senior, so I didn’t know them toooo well, but Kiah joined my sorority in the middle of the school year, so I got to know her a bit there. :) I am SO glad I had this opportunity to get to know them a bit better, because they are complete gems.
They packed up their stuff and their cat, Milo, and moved to the Bay Area after graduation for Tabs’s new job at Facebook. They were kind enough to let me stay with them for the very last night of my epic California road trip. After our shoot they took me out for my first ceviche, and in the morning, Kiah made me breakfast. Amazing hosts, and may I just say, they are thriving in California.
NOWWW ABOUT THIS SHOOT. After I got to their place, we drove almost immediately down to Santa Cruz to catch the sunset at this beautiful secret beach (sorry friends, won’t be revealing where it is!). And what a frickin sunset it was. This shoot is basically the definition of California dreamin’. That sunset, those enormous blue waves, the rocks, the abandoned train tracks, even the BIRDS came through and helped make some magic. And Kiah and Tabs obviously are madly in love and the funnest silliest weirdos ever. My absolute favorite kind of people.
