Grand Canyon South Rim Proposal | Grand Canyon Engagement Photographer
Joe & Rachael
Back at it at the Big Hole! Otherwise known as… the Grand Canyon. :) I loved this one because, being at the end of December, it was my first time seeing the Grand Canyon covered in snow! It was obviously gorgeous before, but this added a whole new element. Thank goodness for Rachael and Joe’s New Year’s trip and Joe being a romantic and proposing near the holiday! :D
Now, depending on how you look at it, this proposal was a lesson in a) going with the flow AND/OR b) having a backup plan. Let me explain.
Joe and I had talked and had this proposal totally planned out. He and Rachael came out from Ohio and were only going to be at the Grand Canyon for a few hours. We had planned to have the big moment be at this more secluded spot at the end of a short hike. Howeverrrr, the week before it was supposed to happen, there was a big snowstorm in Northern Arizona. And I didn't realize until the day before the proposal that, due to the snow and ice, the road to our original spot was closed. In fact, pretty much all roads in the national park except for the main one were closed. Leaving only the most crowded, touristy area open. Too bad though, this still had to happen!
So we came up with a new plan at lightning speed, even though we were barely able to communicate because they were driving up and they were together the whole time so he and I couldn't exactly talk on the phone. BUT somehow it all still worked out perfectly! I found them a spot along the one open trail that wasn't too crowded, only the occasional passerby. I told him exactly how to find me and what to do when he got there. And there you have it! Two more engaged cuties roaming the earth. :)
Congratulations, Rachael and Joe! ❤
